8 Hour Orientation

During orientation volunteers will receive S.O.G./S.O.P.’s and must sign saying they received them and reviewed them

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Members living inside/outside of fire district will be assigned a shift (A,B,C) and be required to sign up for a minimum of 48 hrs a month in 12 or 24 hr shifts. These members will be expected to work these shifts or call in at least 12 hours in advance if unable to work.

 

New members will be issued gear for training only.

 

All new members will be required to attend the 72 hour sffma introductory training class within 6 months of hire date.

 

Members living inside of fire district will be issued a KVFD fire pager upon completion of 72 hour course.

 

All volunteer members will be required to attend a minimum of 2 scheduled training meetings a month.

 

All new members will be required to obtain a Class B exempt license within 6 months of hire date.

 

After 6 months of service to the KVFD new members will be eligible to use KVFD as a sponsor for an approved (by the Fire Chief) Fire Academy, EMT school, and Paramedic school. After passing each course and obtaining certification, one year of service from the date of completion of each course will be eligible for reimbursement from the KVFD.

 

All volunteers will be required to sign up for a minimum of 2 city recognized holidays a year. Any shift that is not covered that falls on a city of Krum recognized holiday will be covered on a volunteer basis, as long as all the positions are filled to run a full engine company and ambulance company.

 

We strongly encourage all volunteers to come to the station at anytime other than their assigned shifts and run calls and hang out.

 

Any deviation from this policy will be from the approval of the Fire Chief or Asst. Fire Chief.
